What is Low Back Pain?

One thing for certain is that at least we have heard someone complaining of low back pain. Why do many complain of low back pain? There are multiples reason as to why there is a complaint of low back pain but in most instances there is no traumatic event, then why do we suffer from low back pain? In most instances our low back pain is the result of repetitive microtrauma. You may be wondering, what is repetitive microtrauma?

Repetitive Microtrauma are activities that we do everyday that can lead towar injury. Elements that can contribute to this trauma are sitting slouched, picking objects from the floor, picking up your child or even something simple as twisting to pick a cup on the table. So why does low back pain occur? In most instances the issue is that a motioned can be performed and the body may not be ready to do the activity. We call this an unguarded movement. Another factor that can also influence low back pain is that after around 20 minutes our muscled are adapted to the position we have been. So for example if you have been slouched for 30min your muscles are used to that position, if you stand up to pick up an object from the floor you have a higher probability of getting injured becasue your muscles are not fully ready to engage in the activity. Most instances there is not a major injury whihc causes the pain.
